Dr. Michael Aratow – Founder
Dr. Aratow is a champion of innovation in both the medical and technology fields as a healthcare technology executive, front-line clinician, early-stage healthcare company advisor, angel investor, and now as the CEO and founding partner of VRecover.

  • Chief Medical Information Officer of San Mateo Medical Center, an integrated delivery network which is part of the nation’s Safety Net institutions, as the liaison between clinicians, administrators and information technology (IT) professionals in strategy, implementation and innovation in clinical IT related matters.
  • Board member and Co-Chair of the Medical Working Group in the Web3D Consortium, a nonprofit organization that promotes an open, royalty free, ISO ratified standard for the display and storage of 3D data on the web.
  • Former research consultant at NASA/Ames Research Center on basic physiology and virtual environment projects.
  • Board certified in Emergency Medicine and Clinical Informatics and practicing Emergency Medicine Physician.
  • Research fellowship at UCSD School of Medicine in Orthopedics.
  • Doctor of Medicine degree from the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and Emergency Medicine training at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

Jeff Rosenberger – Founder
Information services and operations manager experienced in the development and implementation of strategic plans and starting new service infrastructures on small budgets for public sector information and support services. Jeff’s passions for communication, technology, gaming, data analysis, logistical problem solving, and security provide broad ‘hands-on’ experience for planning, managing risk, implementation, and solving organizational problems using technology and innovation. He has proven himself successful in the public sector, and now in the private sector as COO and founding partner in VRecover.

Walter Greenleaf, Ph. D
Walter is a neuroscientist and a medical product developer. He is known internationally as an early pioneer in the medical application of virtual environment technology, and started and managed several successful medical product companies. Walter recently served as the Director for the Mind Division, Stanford Center on Longevity, where his focus was on advancing research on age-related changes in cognition. He is currently a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Stanford University’s Virtual Human Interaction Lab, Chief Science Officer at Pear Therapeutics, Cognitive Leap, and Ellipsis Health, and Medical Director for AppliedVR.
 

Paul Carlisle, PT
Paul is currently Director of Rehabilitation at San Mateo Medical Center, a safety net hospital. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at San Francisco State University where he teaches courses in healthcare and physical therapy. Paul has held the positions of Rehabilitation Coordinator at Laguna Honda Hospital, a 780 bed long term care and rehabilitation facility managed by the San Francisco Department of Public Health, and Chief of Rehabilitation Services at California Correctional Health Care Services, where he provided oversight for rehabilitation programs for California’s 33 State prisons.


Rocky Bornstein, MPT
Rocky Bornstein is an independent physical therapist since 2013 working with a diverse demographic and specializing in dance rehabilitation. After 25 years of working in New York and internationally as a freelance choreographer, performer and dance educator, where she was the recipient of multiple national and local grants and awards, Ms. Bornstein turned to the profession of Physical Therapy to enhance her ability to address the rehabilitation and maintenance of an individual’s highest level of physical function. In 2014, Balanced Body, Inc. bought the rights to the ELASTIK, a strengthening tool designed and developed exclusively by Rocky for rehabilitation.


Ryan Glatt, FAFS, BSc ExSc
Ryan received his BS in Exercise Science and is dedicated to providing innovation and leadership to the movement and health industry via soft-tissue therapy, variable human movement, applied technologies and human optimization programs. He is Co-founder of Body Performance Experts, a therapy center for actor athletes and combat sports participants. Ryan has had experience as a physical therapy aide, group fitness instructor, personal trainer and did research through a Swenson Science Research Fellowship at California Lutheran University.

Shawn Dastmalchi, Ph.D.
Shawn Dastmalchi is Founder and Director of Data Expanse Ventures, a firm advising early stage digital health startups in Silicon Valley. Mr. Dastmalchi has over 25 years of combined academic and commercial experience in several industries including lifescience, medical device, health IT and Internet. He is a Co-founder of Apixio Inc., the leading provider of big data enabled risk assessment solution for Medicare Advantage plans. He served as CEO of Apixio for over 4 years and a board member for 6 years. Prior to Apixio, he was Director of Informatics Business at Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc., a division he helped form and lead all business activities including sales, marketing, service and support of Zeiss' health IT solutions in the U.S. market. In his prior role at Zeiss, he was responsible for introduction and growth of their highest grossing diagnostic device product. Prior to Zeiss, Mr. Dastmalchi held senior positions at Alpha Innotech Corp. and aPeerance Inc. He has also served as a business strategy consultant at several companies including Yahoo Inc. In addition to his industry experience, he has 9 years of academic experience at UCSF and UC Berkeley where he has co-authored several publications and grants. Mr. Dastmalchi received his Undergraduate Degree in Genetics from UC Davis and his PhD in the multi-disciplinary field of Vision Science from UC Berkeley.
